“He shall judge between the nations and arbitrate for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Not lift up sword against nation, and never shall they learn war anymore “(Isaiah 2: 4).
The season of Advent which begins this Sunday calls us to renew and remember the promises of salvation for all mankind.
We have gone a year where violence and threats of war in our world remain.
Our temples like those of other churches have suffered violence showing signs of intolerance. We could probably add other events occurring in our neighborhoods and cities.
The prophet Isaiah brings to mind the proclamation of peace, cease when the power of weapons and these will become tools to work the land.
This season of Advent challenges us to, the face of hatred and revenge, transforming seek answers from true love to build another world.
So, we want every celebration during this season of Advent is:
- An occasion to renew our hope for change and transform what destroys us as people.
- An opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with our neighbors, friends and family, opening to the large parish to bear witness to our faith in Jesus Christ.
- A special moment to think about those whom we could invite to join the joy of salvation.
