From February 26-28, the headquarters staff of the World Methodist Council traveled to Houston, Texas for a site visit of the Hilton Americas-Houston, the location of the 21st World Methodist Conference in Houston. The staff was also joined by Council CFO and Treasurer Kirby Hickey and the Executive Assistant to the Program Chair, Elizabeth Redman.
The staff was able to tour the hotel’s meeting facilities in order to plan the best possible experience for conference goers in 2016.
Also while in Houston the staff was able to meet with Rev. B.T. Williamson of the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church as well as Claytie Davis Jr., the Supervisor of the 16th District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to discuss ways for the World Methodist Conference to be the most inclusive event in the event’s 130-year history.
“Even two and one-half years away, I can tell that our event in Houston promises to be one of the best Conferences that the World Methodist Council has ever planned. Houston, Texas is an international city that will welcome our global family with open arms and warm hearts. I hope that every member of our worldwide parish can make plans to attend what will be a historical event,” said General Secretary Ivan Abrahams.
The 21st World Methodist Conference will take place at the Hilton Americas-Houston from August 31 through September 3 2016 in Houston, Texas USA.
