The World Methodist Council’s Ministerial Exchange Program (MEP) was founded in 1947 to develop ties between Methodist clergy and churches in the United States and England. Its expansion now includes Methodist congregations in other countries and Methodist laity as well as clergy. Since its inception the MEP has afforded a deeper appreciation for and understanding of those who share the Wesleyan heritage in a different cultural setting. Further, it has made a distinctive Methodist contribution in the larger ecumenical movement around the world.
The MEP provides a marvelous opportunity for an exchange between clergy and congregations wherever Methodism advances the gospel of Jesus Christ in the world.
