Online registration for the 21st World Methodist Conference opens today at worldmethodistconference.org. The Conference will be held in Houston, Texas, at the Hilton Americas – Houston, making it the first time in 35 years that the Conference has been held in the United States (Hawaii 1981) and 45 years since it was held on the continent (Colorado 1971). What better place than Texas to hold a Methodist-Wesleyan family reunion!
Be a Part of Something BIG!
The state of Texas is known around the world for its size and flair. Its residents “do things big,” as they say, and hosting the World Methodist Conference will be no exception! Travel to Houston, Texas, in 2016 to join the largest gathering of the Methodist-Wesleyan family in the world. The Conference will be THE place to meet new friends in the faith, rekindle long-time connections, and celebrate our common faith heritage.
Organized around four subthemes – One God, One Faith, One People, One Mission – the program will invite participants into a conversation about the distinction between unity and uniformity in the Wesleyan tradition.
In true, connexional fashion, the World Methodist Conference will be held in conjunction with four other organizational events which will offer dual registration:
- 13th World Assembly 2016 of the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women (29 Aug. – 4 Sept.)
- Global UM Clergywomen Gathering 2016 (29-31 Aug.)
- International Methodist Young Leaders Seminar (29-30 Aug.)
- Perkins School of Theology Continuing Education Seminars and Workshops (31 Aug. – 4 Sept.)
Hotel reservations will open in September and information will be posted on the Conference website. For more information or to register go to worldmethodistconference.org.
