An opportunity to travel back through 300 years of history will soon be available to a limited number of people when Epworth’s Old Rectory opens its doors to small parties for guided tours of what was the childhood home of John and Charles Wesley. They were the brothers who formed a movement that went on to become the world-wide Methodist Church.
The candle-lit tours, with guides in period dress, will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th of December, starting at 7pm.
“The tours will be something very special,” said Gill Crawley, Development Manager at the Old Rectory, which is a Grade 1 listed building, an Accredited Museum and a registered charity.
Tickets for the tours cost £10 each and this includes light refreshments consisting of mince pies – made to an old recipe – and a non-alcoholic punch.
The tickets are available on (01427) 872268. They can either be posted to a home address or collected on the night of one of the tours, which will be restricted to about 10 individuals.
